During the bout of nice weather last week, we started working on the greenhouse. The original plan was to create a foundation out of some railroad ties. But Bob contacted the local cement company about getting cement and they called this afternoon to say they had a bit left over from a job. The truck came by just as the rain started but he had enough cement to fill both the ditches we dug last week. This will provide a nice sturdy foundation for the greenhouse, which is made of metal tubing and heavy duty plastic. It will help get a good start on spring crops.
No sign of beets or carrots yet which isn’t a surprise since both take awhile to germinate in the cool soil. But I look with hope each day as I walk past with the dogs. The mustard and kale from last fall are starting to take off. Better start looking for recipes!
